Implant therapy has matured into a proven state-of-the art choice to replace missing teeth. Clinical studies have show high implant survival rates and prosthetic solutions have evolved significantly over the years, supported by evidence-based research and cutting-edge technology. Today's implant patients have higher expectations compared to patients during the nascent years of implant dentistry when the primary focus was whether the implant would integrate or not. Implant-supported therapy must attempt to provide a long lasting functional and esthetic outcome. This presentation will cover the esthetic challenges encountered in Implant therapy in our quest to emulate the natural dentition, the scientific rationale and clinical applications of short dental implants and finally contemporary treatment modalities for edentulous arches. The importance of an evidence-based approach to treatment planning will be emphasized and supported with an enriched clinical format.
Several clinical case studies will be illustrated to enhance the learning objectives of the participants.
